In an earlier post, we discussed some common house showing mistakes that homeowners make. The post was so popular that we decided to share three more common mistakes. As before, if you can avoid making these mistakes, you’ll stand a much better chance of selling your home and netting the profit that you hope to net.
Without further ado, here we go:
- Not Clean Enough: When you’re selling your home, you – in some ways – need to think of your home as a blank canvas. This is a blank canvas that your potential buyers will be painting their future hopes and dreams upon. That can be incredibly difficult for them if their imaginations are attempting to paint upon an unclean canvas. While you may have vacuumed and dusted, that’s probably not good enough. Consider hiring a professional cleaner to come in and really do the detailed work!
- Not Enough Light: When you’re trying to go to bed, you want things to be dark. When you’re trying to imagine your future within a home, you want that home to be as bright as the future that you’re imagining. Therefore, make sure that your home is as well lit as possible. Of course, this means making sure that all of the light bulbs are up to snuff. You may also want to consider trimming back foliage and plants that are blocking natural sunlight from entering your home.
- Your Pets: You know that you love Fido, and so do the kids. But, not everyone is a dog person – or a cat person for that matter. If you’re going to be showing your home, then you want to make sure that the pets are out of sight. There’s no telling if they might intimidate or bother a potential buyer! Also, make sure that evidence of your pets has been eliminated. Clean up that stray hair, and make sure that any stains they’ve left behind have been eliminated.
